| Hot Tub Time Machine
Film
| Directed by: Steve Pink The fact that Hot Tub Time Machine makes good on its title’s potential is almost irrelevant. With a name like that, the movie pretty much writes itself. Hot Tub Time Machine is about a frustrated violin player who sets out to write an existential rock opera about the Bernie Madoff scandal. Kidding. It’s about four friends who travel back in time to 1986 after a mishap involving alcohol, a Russian energy drink and, of course, a hot tub.

| Erasing David

Film
| Cameo, Thu 29 April 20.30 There is a variety of tools available to documentary filmmakers: Errol Morris used recreated events in The Thin Blue Line and Michael Moore is famous for his "gotcha" style stunts. The documentary Erasing David mines various documentary styles, but these can't keep it afloat.

| Snow White and Russian Red
Film
| Filmhouse, New Europe Film Festival, Sat 17 Apr 20:45 Directed by Xawery Zulawski Based on a novel by the then 18-year-old Dorota Maslowska, Snow White and Russian Red is an interesting piece of cinema. Yobbo is an average guy who does a lot of drugs and whose entire wardrobe consists of tracksuits. The plot follows him for a few days during which he gets dumped by his girlfriend, trashes up a bar, meets a teenage goth, and goes to a funfair, all the while slowly losing his grip on reality. If there ever was such a thing as reality, that is.

| American: The Bill Hicks Story
Film
| Directed by Matt Harlock and Paul Thomas The late Bill Hicks was an exceptional comedian for many reasons. Hailing from Houston, Texas and having started his career at the age of fifteen, Hicks became one of the most controversial comedians the world has known. He saw comedy as means for improving the world rather than escapism to mild humour. Criticising the American government and the hypocrisy of society, Hicks’ approach was innovative. However, it took time for him to develop his sharp critical comedy manner and his rocky career contained quite a few turns. American: The Bill Hicks Story follows his life through his ambition of becoming a comedian and exploring how he made a difference with his comedy.

| Directed by Matthew Vaughn Exploding gangsters, quirky superhero names and a twelve-year-old girl who says the C-word - these are just some of the ingredients which come together to create the absolute insanity that is Matthew Vaughn’s latest film, Kick-Ass. Superman it ain’t.
