The University and College Union (UCU) Scotland held an online rally on Thursday, December 2nd: the second day of strike action across the higher education sector.

The hour-long event was originally planned to be in front of the Scottish Parliament building but was moved online amid fears of the new Omicron coronavirus variant, and live-streamed on social media and YouTube.

Politicians speaking on the livestream were SNP MSP Kaukab Stewart, Green Party MSP Ross Greer, Labour MSP Michael Marra and Liberal Democrat MSP Alexander Cole-Hamilton.

National Union of Students (NUS) Scotland President Matt Crilly also spoke, alongside union members.

A replay of the strike is available on YouTube.

The strikes are due to finish on Friday 3 December, but action short of a strike will continue.
