Nadiya Hussain, recent winner of the show The Great British Bake Off, is set to come to Edinburgh on 30 October.

The dessert specialist will be demonstrating her cooking skills at the Edinburgh Cake and Bake show, an event which runs from the 30 October to 1st November at the Royal Higgling Center in Ingliston.

The event aims to bring together fans, professional bakers and those who bake as a hobby to view  the baked goods on offer and attend workshops from celebrity bakers.

Nadiya will be joined by finalists Ian Cumming and Tamal Ray to re-create some of the more popular deserts from the show and answer fan questions.

Other bakers from this year’s show will also be in attendance, including 19-year old Flora Shedden, Ugne Aleksejenko and Marie Campbell.  The show will also include past bakers such as  Jo Wheatley, John Whaite and Norman Calder.

Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News, Hussain expressed excitement, saying: “It’s been a whirlwind since I won The Great British Bake Off, and my adventure has only just begun. I am truly grateful for how supportive everyone has been, and now I am looking forward to the Cake and Bake Show.”

The Cake and Bake Show is also set to feature demonstrations from celebrity ambassadors, including Lisa Faulkner, winner of Celeb Masterchef; French pâtissier Eric Lanlard; TV foodie Gregg Wallace; and Celeb Masterchef finalist Wendi Peters.

The organiser of the event, Media 10, has predicted a turnout of around 18,000, attributing the high demand to excitement related to watching Hussein bake live.

Hussein rose to popularity on the show following a showstopping chocolate peacock dessert piece and her subsequent fizzy pop cheesecakes.

Fans have latched on to her ranging facial expressions and her sobering backstory.

Rachel McWilliams, from the Edinburgh Bakers group, told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Well-known names such as Nadiya will attract those who have followed her journey from week one through to winner over the recent series. She is a great role model for those that maybe believe they can’t when actually they can.”

Speaking on the event, Media Ten Group Marketing Director Rob Nathan, weighed in, saying: “The Cake and Bake Show is delighted to have partnered with not only the biggest baking programme but the biggest and most talked-about programme on UK television.”
