Little Mix – ‘Shout Out to My Ex’

‘Shout Out to my Ex’, the latest single from Little Mix, is a fun, uplifting number that has already sent gossip columns into overdrive.

While the single may be the greatest clap back to Zayn Malik of all time, the empowering, ‘Hey look at me now’ message is what we should pay attention to.

The use of a relatively stripped down backing track showcases the impressive vocal talents of Perrie, Jesy, Jade and Leigh-Ann, yet leaves just enough to pack a punch. The girls also receive writing credits for the track, proving that their achievements stretch beyond their standout performance on last week’s X Factor.

Critics might pick holes in the song’s lack of lyrical or even melodic originality (accusations the group plagiarised GRL’s ‘Ugly Heart’ followed the single’s debut), but they will only find themselves drowned out by the chorus of women everywhere shouting out to their exes.
