To save a life is to save all of humanity’. This is the motto adopted by the heroic members of the Syrian Civil Defence – also known as The White Helmets.

They are a group of volunteers who risk their lives every day to rescue civilians from beneath the rubble caused by bombings across the country. This 40 minute documentary will open your eyes to the true extent of devastation in Syria and the strength that its people must show every single day.

By sharing a variety of individual stories, such as when a baby was found alive after being trapped under rubble for 16 hours, the situation feels very personal and real, and thus all the more harrowing.

On top of this, the fact that a hand-held camera was used to capture the events makes you feel as though you are there with them, experiencing all of the emotions that they are. You will definitely not be able to stop thinking about The White Helmets long after you shut down your laptop.
