My podcast pick this week is the riveting, thought-provoking and powerful This American Life podcast. Their website tells me they are the most downloaded and popular podcast in America, with over one million downloads each week. Hosted by Ira Glass (who put the show on air in 1995) the team class their show as “not a news show or a talk show or a call-in show. We’re not really formatted like other radio shows at all. Instead, we do these stories that are like movies for radio” – which I totally agree with.
The topics covered in the podcasts range from secret federal recordings to the stealing of buses, and beyond – literally, space is themed in an episode. The show not only captivates the audience but also makes you want more. These topical podcasts have created the need for knowledge, and are a must for anyone wanting to broaden their horizons.
