Police cordon set up after incident on South Oxford Street

Police and ambulance crews were called to an address in South Oxford Street, Newington on Sunday afternoon, 14 February, after a 19-year-old man reportedly fell from a window onto the street below. 

Eyewitnesses report seeing at least three ambulance vehicles, multiple police cars and a police van outside the address less than a mile south of The University of Edinburgh’s main campus.

Police caution tape was put in place at around 12:30 GMT. 

There were further unconfirmed reports of an undergraduate-age student being arrested just a two-minute walk from the incident, outside Pollock Halls of residence. 

The cause of the incident remains unknown.

The Student will continue to publish details as they emerge.
