This is certainly a bun that’s pleasing to the eye. With a surface seedier than a French Brylcreem salesman, a rich brown colour and slightly flawed appearance, Sainsbury’s 45p Brown Bread Roll has a delightful cucina rustica visual appeal. I must confess that even after all my years of tasting bread I was ill prepared the disappointment, nay, horror, that awoke me whence I did bit into this dry, burnt, stale a-bun-ination. I can’t bring myself to type another word about this disgusting object.
Verdict: Stale, burnt, dry. Poor effort from Mr. Sainsbury.
