The Freshers Playlist: Musical Comfort and Hangover Recovery

Freshers can be overwhelming even at the best of times. Whilst you’re bound to be making the most of the array of events on offer and meeting amazing new friends, it is important to make time for yourself to rest and recover throughout the week (and on into the semester!). The first year of university is a crazy transitional period that has its ups and downs. With that in mind, I have curated a comfort playlist to listen to in these moments of rest and relaxation.

I have included recent summer favourites from the likes of Arlo Parks, Villagers, Lianne La Havas and Faye Webster as well as some classics from timeless artists like Tracy Chapman, Minnie Riperton and Gil Scott-Heron. I also have to plug my musical pal and fellow Edinburgh student Lotte Thomas, whose beautiful song ‘Shelter’ makes an appearance. This can either be the soundtrack to your hangover recovery or your chilled evening in. There can be pressure to be everywhere and doing everything during freshers so remember to prioritise yourself during the madness. Enjoy the music and welcome to Edinburgh!
