The Gilmore Return

The law of hugely popular television shows states that they can never end, which is why remakes and revivals are now seemingly produced with as much gusto as originals. However, heartwarming, comforting Gilmore Girls is one revival that I am definitely not opposed to.

If you have lived obliviously until now, the show follows the relationship between mother and daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. Lorelai had Rory aged sixteen, which is also the age Rory is when the show begins. They are both hilarious, kind people, who somehow manage to live on the infamous ‘Gilmore’ diet – burgers, ice cream, and witty comments. Stars Hollow, where they live, is a bubble of small town American life, full of eccentric characters, making the show yet more endearing through its unfamiliarity.

The return of the Gilmores is still long in the distance, but as each scrap of news emerges (Melissa McCarthy is not returning which is heartbreaking), I am just reminded of how wonderful Gilmore Girls is. It will be important to be up to date when it is broadcast, which is why I’ll be rewatching every season until it finally is. Where you lead, I will follow.
