Urte Macikenaite wins VPS election with 1020 votes

Urte Macikenaite has won the election for Vice President of Services (VPS) of Edinburgh University Students Association (EUSA) with 54.55% of the vote.

Macikenaite won in the first round of voting with 1020 votes.

In her victory speech Macikenaite said: “I’m really proud of what I’ve run and what I’ve stood for so thank you.”

Macikenaite called for better parties, a diverse student experience, and a commitment to social responsibility in her manifesto.

In her manifesto she detailed plans for numerous new club nights and social events for EUSA venues, including events dedicated to societies and postgraduates.

Macikenaite further called for divestment from arms, fossil fuels, and conflict minerals, a campaign for free sanity products, and zero tolerance for sexual harassment.

She additionally campaigned on offering better deals at EUSA venues, cocktails and all-day breakfast at Teviot, and more food options at King’s Buildings.
