Regardless of how you feel about Woody Allen, his new deal to make a television show for Amazon is something you should feel good about. If you haven’t already heard, it was announced earlier this month that Allen would be partnering with Amazon in developing a new television series for its fledgling Netflix-style, online television viewing platform.
It will be interesting to see how Allen’s show pans out, especially seeing as his forte is strongly in feature film. What makes this news good news for anyone, even Allen haters, is that this shift happening in the entertainment consumption market is a move away from exploiting the viewer for the gain of big companies, instead moving towards user-friendly, binge-watch encouraging, easy and accessible programming for all. Even if it is a dud, this is good news for anyone who loves to consume television with ease.
